Welcome to the 2008-2009 school year! The Avery County School System is approaching this year with confidence that it will be filled with continued growth in achievement and many student accomplishments. Our goal continues to be one of the highest achieving and most successful school systems in North Carolina . The 2008-2009 year will, no doubt, carry on a tradition of excellence.
The new school year brings many changes to our academic programs, policies and leadership. Based on a new mission and vision for 21 st Century Future Ready Students and Administrators and specific directives from the State Board of Education, Avery County ’s Board of Education strives to adopt and revise policies that impact standards for student achievement and graduation.
These higher standards will ensure that our students are prepared for the next grade as well as further educational experiences beyond high school.
Historically, we have not only been recognized for our academic programs, but also for being a safe and caring school system. To further this reputation, the Avery Board of Education adopts policies regarding wellness and healthful living.
A positive, safe and caring environment is created when all of us work together for students and the future of our district.
