DUE TO DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS, AVERY COUNTY BE CLOSED FOR STUDENTS AND 10 MONTH ON TUESDAY, DECEMBER 11th.
The joint meeting between the Avery County Board of Education and the Avery County Commissioners originally scheduled for Monday, December 10, 2018 has been canceled due to inclement weather. The regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting for this date has also been canceled.
We have been made aware of an email scam being sent to local businesses falsely claiming to be in partnership with Avery County High School asking for sponsorships. Please read our post on Facebook for more information and contact us before making any sponsorship deals to verify legitimacy.

2018-2019 School Year
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year! Thank you for the opportunity to serve you and your family. It is an honor and a privilege to serve the young people of Avery County. We are committed to providing students and families the best educational experience possible. You and your family are very important to our school district, and we encourage you to be an advocate for education and the Avery County Schools.
I hope you take an active role in your child’s education by visiting their school and by taking part in the many opportunities you have to serve, such as becoming a volunteer or joining the PTA. Please know you are always welcome in our schools.
