•  ILT and Mentor Services

Avery County Schools work in partnership with all beginning teachers to ensure that they receive quality professional support and training.  Appalachian State University's Reich College of Education has also partnered with Avery County Schools to provide a collaborative network for our beginning teachers.

Currently, there are 25 Beginning Teachers in Avery County Schools who hold positions in all but one of our nine schools.  Central Services staff provide training for these teachers at monthly training sessions and provide weekly support with a certified mentor.

Human Resources and Mentor Services are dedicated in their endeavors to provide these teachers with the skills that will enable our students to become successful  21st Century learners.
