Digital Formative Assessments 101 - online course

Designed to give you an opportunity to explore digital resources that provide real time feedback of student understanding. This course will explore 5 different digital formative assessment tools. Participants will create user accounts, explore the tools and create formative assessments that meet your needs for gathering feedback. We will learn how to create, share and review data using these tools.

Course is designed to span 5 weeks. We will meet virtually for one hour per week to introduce and explore a new tool and create a finished assessment for use in the classroom.

Course will start week of February 4th.

This course is worth 1.0 DLC CEU’s.

Spring Book Study: Ditch that Textbook by Matt Miller

Matt Miller has taught for more than a decade, integrating technology to engage students and create unique learning experiences. He created the Ditch That Textbook blog, is a Google Certified Teacher and co-hosts a podcast on the BAM Radio Network. Matt’s book, Ditch That Textbook, was recently published. It’s all about upgrading your classroom with powerful technology and innovative mindsets to meet students in the 21st-century world where they live.” - ditchthattextbook.com

The book study will hosted using social media platform: Google+

It’s expected to take 6 weeks to complete. Each week we’ll post questions for discussion and at the conclusion of the book we will meet as a group for one final “hoorah” to reflect on how the book has impacted us as educators. Active participation in the online discussions is a MUST!

Google Certified Educator (GCE) - Level 1

EdTechTeam describes GCE as “specifically for classroom teachers, (…) focusing on Google Tools at a foundational level but also gives educators insight into Digital Citizenship and Copyright. Level 1 is perfect for the educator who would like to learn how to integrate technology into the classroom. Users must pass the Level 1 exam at the end of the curriculum to become Certified.”

GCE Level 1 course consists of 13 units. Each unit takes approximately 1 hour to complete. After completing the unit participants can pay $10 to register for the exam. Once you pass the exam and are certified, certification is good for 3 years. This course is completely online and self paced.

Completion of and certification as Google Certified Educator Level 1 is worth 1.75 DLC CEU’s.
