Good evening. This message is for our juniors and seniors about prom tickets. Prom Ticket sales are almost over. You must purchase your tickets by Friday, April 19th. If bringing a date who is not a current 11th/12th grader at ACHS, the date application process was shared with you via email. Prom is May 4th.

All of the senior cap and gowns have arrived. Students may come to the conference room tomorrow, April 17th, to pick up their cap and gowns. Student fees for the cap and gowns must be paid in full before students will receive them. Please call school with any questions. Thank you.

Good evening. Spring sports will begin tomorrow, February 26th. Baseball will play at West Caldwell at 4:00. Soccer will play Tuesday at West Caldwell at 5:30. Our women's basketball team will play Rosman in the first round of the playoffs at Rosman. Game will begin at 6:00. Our juniors will take the ACT test this Tuesday. All juniors are required to take the ACT. Testing will begin by 8:30. Juniors may check out once all testing is complete. They must have a note signed by a parent or guardian to leave. All other students will report to their homeroom and remain there for the duration of testing. Thank you.

The final deadline for ordering your Avery High yearbook is tomorrow, February 23rd. Please place your order now at jostensyearbook.com or bring your textbook order form and payment to Ms. Eller in room 201. As a reminder, tomorrow is the last day to order! Thank you.

We will host a 9th and 10th grade parent meeting tomorrow night, Thursday, February 15th. The ninth grade meeting will be from 5:30 to 6:15. The tenth grade meeting will be from 6:30 to 7:15. These meetings will take place in the mini-theater. We will be educating parents about the registration process, dual enrollment, and CTE offerings. Please visit the cafeteria also where CTE will have information about the 16 pathways we offer. School clubs will also be set up in the cafeteria. We hope to see you there!

This message is for parents of seniors. Please join us tomorrow night, Thursday, February 8th for a Scholarship/FAFSA Informational session from 5:30 to 7:00 in the media center. During this session, staff will share scholarship opportunities available for ACHS seniors including students planning on attending 4 year universities and 2 year community colleges and/or vocational programs. FAFSA information will also be shared. Door prizes will be given out for participants. We look forward to seeing you!

Avery County High School will host a FAFSA and Scholarship information session on Thursday, February 8th from 5:30 to 7:00 in the media center. Seniors and their parents are encouraged to attend for assistance with completing the FAFSA and learning about scholarship opportunities.

Avery students who have signed up for Maylands 12 week online courses: Your classes will start this Friday on February 2nd . Please check you moodle accounts for more information on February 2nd concerning assignments. If you have any questions concerning your classes please contact Mr O’Hagan in student services. Due to the weather, the FAFSA informational meeting scheduled for tonight has been canceled. We will have a FAFSA meeting this Thursday from 5:30 to 7:00 in the media center. Thank you.

The Avery County School System will operate on a REGULAR SCHEDULE tomorrow, Friday, January 5, 2024. We will have five (5) gravel roads our buses will not travel. On Friday, January 5, 2024, Avery County school buses will not run the following gravel roads: Old Beech Mountain Rd Arnett Rd Reuben Wooten Rd Berry Rd John Greer Rd Thank you.

Students taking Mayland classes: If you are taking a welding course at the Newland campus, or a seated class at our Spruce Pine campus, your classes will start January 4th. If you have an online course that is NOT history, public speaking, or art, your classes will also start January 4th. If you have a Mayland class that is seated at Avery high School, your classes will start the week of January 8th. If you have any questions, please check your Avery email for an email from Mr. O'Hagan about start dates. He will also be in his office in student services this week to answer any questions or assist with logging into your account. Thank you.

Good evening, Avery County Schools will operate on a normal schedule tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12th. The End of Course tests and CTE exams schedule is as follows: tomorrow we will test English 2 and Math 1 end of course tests, Wednesday we will test Biology and Math 3 end of course tests, Thursday and Friday will be CTE exams and end of course test make ups. Students who are taking end of course tests and/or CTE exams need to be present on testing days. Please call the school with any questions. Thank you and have a good evening.

Avery High's final exams will begin this week and continue through next week. Teacher made exams will be given this Thursday and Friday. Students are expected to come to school Thursday and Friday. End of Course tests and CTE exams will be given next week. The English 2 and Math 1 End of Course tests will be on Monday, December 11th. The Biology and Math 3 End of Course tests will be on Tuesday, December 12th. CTE exams will be given on Wednesday, December 13th and Thursday, December 14th.
