
Avery County High School would like to invite all First Responders and our Military
Veterans to come and watch our Avery Vikings take on the Bessemer Yellow Jackets.
The game will be held on a Friday Night, under the lights, on September 6 th , 2024. All
First Responders and Military Veterans will receive free admission, a meal provided with
the help of our Avery High School JROTC and Hospitality / Culinary departments, as
well as being recognized at center field, presenting our new giant 50’ by 30’ American
flag during the playing of the National Anthem.
Time-Line:
5:30pm : Meals being served (Chicken, Hamburgers and Hotdogs,
3 sides will be served as well as a variety of deserts)
6:45pm: First Responders and Veterans who are willing and able, are invited to be a
part of the playing of the National Anthem and will be recognized at center field
7:00pm-10:00 pm: Kickoff
Please come and help support our Avery Vikings in allowing our community to celebrate
your service.

Registration is open for all YMCA fall youth recreation programs for students in grades pre-K – 5th grade. Fall Recreation programs include rec soccer, swim team, SPIRIT dance program and club basketball. Monday, August 26th is the last day to sign up for some of these programs. We are excited to begin the 2024-2025 school year and welcoming back all of our students tomorrow. The high school instructional day begins at 8:05. Students will be counted tardy after 8:10. Students who are being brought to school by parents need to be dropped off in the staff parking lot and will enter the doors at the side of the school. Students Driving themselves to school need to park in the student lot in the front of the school. When students arrive at school, they need to go to the cafeteria. Students will be dismissed to first period from the cafeteria. All students this school year are able to have free breakfast and lunch. School dismisses at 3:05. Students being picked up from school will be picked up in the same place where students are dropped off in the mornings.
The ACHS Student Handbook and Code of Conduct is posted on Avery High's website. Please encourage your child to review the code of conduct and be aware of the rules and policies. Students may pick up a printed copy of the handbook from the front office.
If your child has a CTE internship for first or fourth period this semester, they will need to go to the media center during first and fourth periods tomorrow to receive instructions about their fall placements.

This session will provide important information about CCP Dual Enrollment courses, how to navigate your Mayland account, and hear from an instructor about the classroom experience and expectations. We will begin distributing MacBooks to students this Friday, August 9th from 8:30 to 4:00. Seniors may pick up MacBooks on Friday, August 9th. Juniors may pick up MacBooks on Monday, August 12th. Sophomores may pick up MacBooks on Tuesday, August 13th. Freshmen will be issued MacBooks on the first day of school.
