Good evening, We will begin selling parking passes for Seniors on Monday, July 29th. Parking passes are $25. Seniors will be able to pick out a parking spot. This is first come, first serve. Students will need to fill out the Parking Pass contracts to submit when purchasing a pass. These contracts can be found on the ACHS website under Students and on ACHS's Facebook page. All student drivers must have a parking pass to park on campus. The front office is open Monday through Thursday from 8:00 to 5:00. Parking passes for all other students will be sold beginning on Monday, August 5th. Please call the school with any questions. Thank you.

Good evening, We still have quite a few graduated seniors who have not picked up their diplomas. Please come by the front office to pick up your diplomas. Office hours are Monday through Thursday, 7:00 to 5:00. Thank you.

If you are not able to take senior pictures on June 10 or 11, make up sessions will be offered at later dates. Those dates will be sent out as soon as they are scheduled. Thank you.

Good evening, The Class of 2025 Senior Pictures will be taken on June 10th and 11th at the high school in the mid-level commons. Seniors must be photographed by Prestige to be included in the 2024-2025 yearbook. Vehicles are not allowed to drive behind the school. Students need to be dropped off and picked up either in the front of the school or at the doors of the car rider line. Thank you.

All seniors have the senior brunch at 10am tomorrow morning followed by graduation practice at 11am. Friday afternoon all seniors participating in graduation need to arrive at ACHS by 4:30pm with all of their regalia. Graduation will start promptly at 6:00pm. Also, any senior who has outstanding fines or hasn't turned in a computer will NOT be allowed to receive their diploma until those are taken care of. Thank you.

Good evening, We have about 20 seniors who have not turned in their MacBooks. Please return MacBooks by Friday morning. The IT department will be at school all day tomorrow and Friday to collect MacBooks. Students who still owe money for fees, please come to school to pay these fees by Friday morning. Good morning, The Capping ceremony for seniors will be held tonight beginning at 6:00 in the gym. The ceremony will be live streamed for those not able to attend. A link to the live stream will be placed on the Avery High School website. There will be a table set up in the mid-level commons for seniors to turn in MacBooks and pay any fees that are owed. If seniors are not sure if they have fees, they may ask tonight. Please remember MacBooks and fees need to be paid before graduation. We look forward to seeing everyone this evening.

Tomorrow, May 28th, we will begin CTE testing. Students who have a State Assessment during the 1st or 2nd period will test on Tuesday, May 28th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Students with a CTE State assessment during the 3rd or 4th period will test on Wednesday, May 29th, beginning at 8:00 a.m. Please be sure your Macbooks are fully charged. If you have any questions about when your child is testing, please email their teacher. Thank you.

Good evening, Rising 12 grade students are required by NC State Law to have a second dose of the meningococcal vaccine prior to entering the 12th grade. Please check with your child's health care provider or the Avery County Health Department to make sure he/she is up to date on vaccines prior to the start of the school year in August. The first day of school is August 14, 2024. Thank you.

Good evening, All students will need to turn in their MackBooks, chargers, and cases by the end of the school year. The IT department is set up outside of the media center to collect MacBooks. Seniors will need to turn in their MacBooks before graduation on May 31st. There are fees for students who have lost MacBooks, chargers, or cases. Please call the school with any questions. Good evening, We will be hosting a Meet and Greet for our new Men's Varsity Basketball Coach, John Gage, on Thursday, May 9th beginning at 6:00. This will be held in the mid-level commons. Please come out and meet Coach Gage!

Good evening, In the past few weeks, we have had a large number of students who are leaving campus for lunch and then returning. Students are not allowed to leave campus for lunch. This is stated in the Student Handbook on page 8. We have parents calling at lunch time to have their child checked out for lunch. We have students who are riding in vehicles with other students without permission from parents. This is a safety and liability concern. Beginning tomorrow, May 1st, if a student needs to be checked out between the hours of 11:00 to 1:20, a parent or guardian will need to come into the front office to check out a student. Check outs over the phone during these hours will not be permitted. Again, these are safety and liability issues. We are trying to keep all students safe and accounted for.
