The Avery High School Renovation Project has officially started!



  • The Avery County Board of Education will hold work sessions on October 14, 17, and 21, beginning at 5:00 p.m. at the Avery County Schools Central Office located at 775 Cranberry Street, Newland, NC. The purpose of the meeting is to go into closed session to discuss personnel matters pursuant to N.C.G.S. 143-318.11 subsection (a)(6).

  • The scheduled monthly meeting the Avery County Board of Education on October 8, 2019 has been changed to Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Central Services due to scheduling conflicts.

    The Board of Education will also meet at 5:15 on October 15, 2019 for a Special Joint Meeting with the Avery County Commissioners to review and discuss information about the construction at Avery High School.

  • Avery County Schools is seeking a Capital Projects Advisor to oversee progress and advise the Board of Education on the Avery County High School construction project. Knowledge and construction superintendent experience in financial, operational, and technical aspects of major construction projects ($10,000,000 or more) preferred.   • School Bus Driver’s Training

    Dates: September 16, 17, and 18, 2019

    Times: 8:30am - 3:30pm

  • Attention: Visitors to Avery County High School The traffic patterns and parking at ACHS are changing. The school’s main entrance is moving to the entrance in the bus parking lot starting Monday, June 24th.
