Attention Rising 8th Grade Band Students:
There are now opportunities for Avery County 8th grade band members to participate in the 2023 Viking Band marching show! Starting next Tuesday, August 1, we invite all interested 8th graders to the High School Band Hall from 11 am to 1:45 pm. Please contact Mr. Hodges or Ms Corbliss for details at jeffhodges@averyschools.net.
All rising 7th graders must provide the school with documentation of Tdap and meningococcal vaccines on or before September 13th.
Sport physicals will be offered at Avery High School Wednesday, 7/26 from 5:00 to 8:00, cost is $20. Forms are attached.

There will be a meet and greet and informational meeting Wednesday May 31st at 4 pm in the lower commons of ACHS. If you are unable to attend information regarding tryouts will either be posted on the ACS Facebook page or through the phone messaging system.

Thank you all for your support during testing this past week. We will have scores back soon. Any student who tested as Non-Proficient on any test will have an opportunity to receive remediation and retest in that subject area. Remediation and retesting will occur next week on a staggered schedule from Monday, June 5th through Thursday, June 8th. Students will need to provide their own transportation to and from school on those days.
There is no school for students and staff tomorrow in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Please encourage your students to take a moment to reflect on those who paid the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the freedoms we all enjoy every day.
There will be a School Improvement Team meeting on Tuesday at 3:00 in the Media Center.
Report cards will go home on Wednesday, May 31st.
Eighth grade promotion will be Wednesday evening at 5:00 in the Avery High Gym. There will be a social for all 8th grade students at Avery Middle immediately following the promotion ceremony that will last until 8:00. Parents are encouraged to send in drinks and store-bought snacks.
Thursday, June 1st is the last day of school for students. The 7th grade will have an awards ceremony at 9:00 on this day, and school will dismiss at 11:45 for Avery Middle.
