Weekly Announcements October 9-13
Attention 8th Grade Parents:
A permission slip, behavior contract and $200 are due by October 16 for all students wishing to participate in the 8th grade trip to the Outer Banks. We also need to know what parents are willing to chaperone for this trip. We must have enough chaperones to meet the 1:8 School Board requirement in order to take this trip. If we do not have enough chaperones we will have to cancel this trip and offer a series of day trips. Permission slips should be turned in by all students indicating if the student wishes to go on the trip or not.
Also for 8th grade parents:
Yearbook tributes are a great way to celebrate student success and milestones and reflect on the person your student has become. Show your pride and support the yearbook at the same time. Visit jostonsyearbooks.com to create your recognition ad today. The deadline for the discounted rate is this Friday, October 13th. The final deadline is November 17th. A flyer with this information was sent home this past week.
The first grading period ends this Tuesday. Parent Conference Day will be held October 19th from 11:00 to 7:00.
There will be a School Improvement Team meeting on Tuesday at 3:00 in the Media Center the Avery County Schools School Board will meet Tuesday evening at 6:00 at Central Services.
On Thursday a Band Showcase will be held at 6:30 in the Avery Middle Cafeteria.
This Wednesday, October 11th is the deadline to turn in flu consent forms and insurance cards in order to receive a flu shot on October 16th.

The deadline for yearbook tributes is fast approaching! The deadline for the discounted rate is October 13th. The final deadline is November 17th.
Eighth graders completed an Escape Room during ELA class. Tensions were high, but the treasure was worth it!!
Side note-the winning team shared the treasure with the class. ❤️
The volleyball game today against Cranberry will begin at 4:00. This is our final home game of the season. Come out and support our Lady Panthers.
Weekly Announcements October 2-6
On Wednesday, we will have fall picture make ups and retakes. If your child was absent on the original picture day, they can have their picture taken to purchase or just for the yearbook. If you were unsatisfied with your child’s picture, please have them bring all pictures back to school on Wednesday, and they can have them retaken.
This Friday is an early release day. Avery Middle will dismiss at 11:45.
