Avery County Schools is pleased to announce Dr. Rachel Shepherd as the district’s next Technology Director. A native of the High Country, Dr. Shepherd brings extensive experience as a teacher, instructional technology facilitator, and school administrator. She joins Avery County Schools from Appalachian State University’s Office of Rural Promise, where she led a team focused on designing and supporting teacher professional development. Dr. Shepherd is excited to return to a more hands-on role and to support the students and educators of the Avery County community.
