Federal Programs and Student Services Director
Avery County Schools is pleased to welcome Dr. Trisha Cook as our new Federal Programs and Student Services Director. Dr. Cook currently serves in Federal Programs with New Hanover County Schools and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this role.
She has previously served as a principal, providing her with a strong and well-rounded perspective on student services and overall school operations. Her experience spans Pre-K through 12th grade, equipping her to effectively support both students and staff across all levels.
Dr. Cook is relocating to our area with her husband, who is employed at Appalachian State University. She is eager to continue her work in education and contribute positively to our district. Her references consistently highlight her leadership, professionalism, and dedication to student success. She is known for her collaborative approach, strong organizational skills, and commitment to meeting the needs of students and families.
Welcome, Dr. Dustin Bridges
Human Resources Director
We are also excited to welcome Dr. Dustin Bridges as our new Human Resources Director. With 18 years of experience as a school administrator, Dr. Bridges brings strong leadership and a deep understanding of school operations and personnel.
Throughout his career, he has served as an elementary principal, middle school principal, and high school assistant principal, as well as in roles extending to the university level. This broad experience provides him with a comprehensive understanding of education across all levels.
He has completed the NCSSA Aspiring Superintendent Program, holds a certificate in Human Resources Management, and has attended the NC School Law Conference for 13 years—demonstrating a strong commitment to professional growth. Dr. Bridges’ experience and training make him well-prepared to effectively lead the district’s Human Resources efforts and support our staff across Avery County Schools.
